The Glow

The birds they sang
At the break of day
Start again
I heard them say
Don't dwell on what has passed away
Or what is yet to be

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in

(from Leonard Cohen - Anthem)

I took these photos in various times of the year in Belgium and Portugal. Their common thread is light. The way it changes and gives life to the scene. The glow beneath things.

  1. Loved the backlit glow in your first image. I also liked the sunlight beaming through a tree with crooked branches and the glowing river cascading over rocks. I had never read that wonderful piece by Cohen. Very appropriate for the theme!
